This is a song about loss and love, but not necessarily the bad in the loss of love.

Was really looking to display a softer side of Ashes in the Delta, looking to bands like The Black Crowes with "She Talks to Angels" but still with the grit of something like a Chris Stapleton

We discovered pretty late in production that the key that we had written the song in just wasn't working vocally, so we had to take the song down a half step and try it again. Finally, after four vocal sessions we were able to lock it in, get it right, and it's honestly one of the best performances from our vocalist.

As far as sounds, I would say the fact that we chose to have someone play the organ and someone play keyboards for this song (to really fill in the space) is something that I think would really throw people for a loop. There are no really heavy guitars on this track. We took it really light. As far as lyrics, there's a beautiful lyric. It says, "My heart will break when you go away but the love you take. Is me watching you waiting to fly?" And that's just an incredible piece of writing from our vocalist Marcus.

Honestly, art is so subjective. We're just happy that they feel something to begin with when they hear our songs. That's our goal every time we release something: to have the listener feel something.

Time. It's always time. There's never enough of it.

That this just happens, that it's not a ton of work, that it's just talent, and oh my God, that was so good. How did you do that? How does that just come out of you? It's a lot of work.

It's not something we really struggle with. We're constantly writing, and if I find myself as a producer and a songwriter in a rut, normally I can just look to my singer. He'll have a fresh idea or a fresh take that pulls me out almost immediately.

Stop being afraid of it, plain and simple, and be consistent. Don't worry about watching videos and finding out what's trending. If it's trending now, it probably won't be tomorrow. Do your thing, but be consistent about it.

If they hear the song and they prefer our softer side, I would say go with something like "Long Street." It was our first actual recorded release, but I would say go with "Violet Eyes." It's a great depiction of where we were at a particular point in time, and it's heavy and has a gnarly guitar solo in it that I'm super proud of.
